Thanks to everyone who attended the 20th reunion. Attendance for Friday night was 194. Of those, 132 were alumni. Attendance for Saturday was 271. All told, the weekend was a huge success. Thanks to all of you who could make it.

This blog will remain active, so refer to it to keep updated on alumni happenings. In addition, please send any updated information to olympus88reunion (at) gmail.com. If you did not get a directory on Friday or Saturday, I have a few left so drop me an e-mail and and I'll send you one.

6. Recently completed the St. George Marathon and Salt Lake City 1/2 Marathon. Crazy since I weigh over 250 lbs.
7. Ditching a guy on a train in Italy while he was asleep.

9. i haven't done anything crazy, but i have definately had a lot of interesting experiences in the last 20 years. my husband and i are adoptive parents and one of our kids has aspergers syndrome. i am a big advocate of adoption and have been in many jr high and high schools talking about adoption. i am also a big autism awareness advocate.

11. I tried to barefoot at Lake Powell, but instead did a few face plants.

Well, for a crazy thing when I was working at the Deseret Industries and I would wait for the bus to go home, I would yell out things at the people driving like "Whew" or "Hey" or "Easy Rider!!!!!" to motorcyclists. As far as interesting, I guess writing my book on mental illness which took a year and a half to complete. I still need to get it published, but for the most part it's done.

28. I got 5 days unpaid leave from my technical support job for the state of Utah for using my state email to write on a blog which we set up temporarily to plan the protest against George Bush when he came to town in 2006.

30. I think raising children is pretty crazy and interesting!!! Sounds boring to most, but believe me there is never a dull moment!!!

32. Hopping on a bus to go to Boston by myself with almost no money, no place to land, no housing, no connections and only acceptance at Boston University to pull me there.

The craziest or stupidest thing I've done since high school, and I did a lot of stupid things, was getting two tatoos done when I was 22 while I was in Tahiti on a family vacation with my parents. I met a Tahitian dancer with tatoos from head to toe and he conveniently was the village tatoo artist. He'd never tatooed a tourist before but he agreed. My younger sister and I stayed up all night at the house of four tahitian dancers getting tattooed all night with a home made tatooing device made from a needle wrapped in string and rigged to the moter of a face shaver. He would dip the needle in the lid from soda bottle full of ink and drag it through my skin. I let him choose the design. I am now nearly 40 with a dark black ink tatoo on my foot and one on my back. I have been planning on having them removed for a while now but keep hoping that the technology will get better. I ended up wearing socks the rest of the vacation to hid my new tatoos from my parents. They couldn't understand why I was wearing socks on the beach of a hot tropical island. To this day I still wish that I would have listened to my mother's words "you'll regret it someday" and she was right. The tahitians even tried to talk me out of it fearing that American society was too conservative. What an experience though. The most interesting thing I've done I guess is that I lived and studied in Japan for nearly 4 years and I'm NOT a returned missionary. I then returned home from Japan and moved to New York City to fullfill my lifelong dream of studying fashion design.
34. I guess it would be never getting married or having children since it was not one of the options to choose from on this survey.

Reunion registration has begun!

Dear Class of 1988 Olympus High School alumni,

It’s time to sign up for our 20th high school reunion! The dates have been set for Friday and Saturday, August 15-16, 2008.

Friday night, from 7 to 11 p.m., we’ll be catching up with old friends and enjoying some ‘80s music and dining on Mexican food by Rico’s at the historic Salt Lake Hardware Building at 155 North 400 West. Saturday, from 4 to 10 p.m., we’ll be having fun at Sugar House Park’s Southeast Terrace.

Sign up early and pay only $60 per person, which includes attendance and food for both days.

We are looking for old pictures you would like to share with your classmates. Please send them to Katrina Anderson at jkstucki@gmail.com or mail them to Katrina at 222 N. 200 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84103. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope in order to have them returned to you.

We are also looking for a photographer who is willing to document Friday and Saturday’s events, which will be turned into a DVD that will be available for purchase.

We also need help putting together a slideshow to be shown on Friday night.

Brent W. Pixton passed away July 13, 1987 at the age of 17 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Anthony Jon Stewart Sabourin Jr. passed away May 5, 1990 at the age of 20 from injuries sustained in an auto-pedestrian accident.

Joel Anthony Roco passed away December 27, 1990 at the age of 20.

Brandon H. Widdop passed away March 23, 1991 at the age of 20 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Neal Albert Smith passed away December 23, 1991 at the age of 22 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Michael Todd Cundick passed away February 22, 1999 at the age of 28.

Steven Lynch Shane passed away March 2, 2001 at the age of 32 due to complications of diabetes. Steve is survived by a daughter, Brandi Dawn Shane.

Steven (Spud) Mark Gubler passed away February 23, 2003 at the age of 33. Steve is survived by two daughters, Ashton McKensie and Kylie McKell Gubler.

Samantha Ann Smith (Norton) passed away February 14, 2005 at the age of 35. Samantha is survived by three children, Simon Asher Jason Smith, Riley Anthon Isaiah Smith, and Amethyst Eden Jasmine Smith and her husband, Jason Smith.

Douglas Arthur Reaveley passed away June 17, 2008 at the age of 38. Doug is survived by one son, Bryce.

So, the other day I had my husband drop by Olympus to pick a, ahem, $40 alumni directory just so I could quadruple-check that I had every '88 graduate on my list. I'd missed about five but had three or four they didn't have. So, I say, the more the merrier.

Did you know:

Though unconfirmed, the only teacher that's still teaching when we were there is Mr. Felt?

Olympus sits on 26.5 acres and cost $1,356,092.01 and opened its doors on Sept. 1, 1953?

Other than songleaders, cheerleaders and student body officers (well, maybe not anymore), does anyone know all the words to Oly's school song?

Well, here goes:
